Bob Young Books

Journalist, historian and author Bob Young brings history to life in the retelling of iconic Southern events through his books. “Facts are much more interesting than fiction,” he says, adding that many real people and actual events are simply too incredible to be believable. But, they indeed have their place in historical narrative, “and that’s what I enjoy researching.”
Bob’s first book published in 2012 was The Treasure Train. It recounts the story behind the legend of the disappearance of the Confederate treasury at the end of the Civil War. To this day, treasure hunters continue to try to find the millions of dollars in missing gold and silver. But does it really exist?
The Treasure Train was a finalist for the Frank Yerby Award at the Augusta Literary Festival. In 2015 Bob was presented with the Jefferson Davis Award by the United Daughters of the Confederacy for his work on Southern history.
Bob’s most recent book is The Hand of the Wicked. It recounts a true story of murder and betrayal during Reconstruction in Georgia. Based on the events surrounding the brutal killing of freedwoman Nellie West, Bob follows the efforts to spare her killers from the hangman’s noose all the way to the desk of President Andrew Johnson. However, we quickly learn the story does not end in the Executive Office.
Bob’s books are available on the on-line platforms of Amazon and Barnes and Noble. They are also available in e-book on Kindle. Inscribed copies can be ordered directly from the author.
